I am trying to understand what it really means to "make it to success" out here in Los Angeles. Considering every young Los Angeleno at childhood (self included), how is it that they even know of this concept? Then, after they (we) come to know of the concept, how did we know what it means for me (you and/or us)? So, to bring this to my points - how are we really to know what it is we are supposed to do to make it to success? If and when we have been fortunate enough to figure out how we are going to make it; actually make it; who tells us that we have finally "made it"? If someone tells us when we've made it, how can we be certain that what this individual is telling us is true?
I tried to think deeply about this, how would I really know if I made it to success...? I tried to compare myself to other individuals. I said maybe when I get to this level like the level they are at...then I will have made it. Then I said but wait, NO - I don't necessarily want what they have...do I? so if I get that - how then will I know when I have made it? What if having what they have at their level makes me miserable? I remember being a young girl, wishing that I could "make it", hoping for me - to be successful one day. I look back, recall the countless many of my "making it" dreams; did any of those dreams have an arrival point? - like a crowning of sorts - even a "making it" parade or an "I'm successful" graduation? No - Well this is confusing....I remember my mother telling my sister and I the importance of our planning on success. She stressed consistency, self-sufficiency, forward thinking, mandated foreign travel, diverse cultural immersion, as well as introduced us to the idea of being present. Perhaps I am here today, asking these questions for a reason, asking you to evaluate this concept with me for my benefit...Truthfully, I will share that unknown path to making it to success can take someone on a spiraling, unique, and non-linear journey. Defining "making it to success" based ones arbitrary viewpoint, leaves the definition open to questions of validity. Simply this means, if someone coins another as having made it successfully, what is their basis? What are the credentials of this individual donning labels of "making it" and if this individual has bestowed "making it to success" on another, is this something that can be doffed? Can "making it to success" be taken away? As noted above, questioning this concept could lead to additional questions upon other questions, never really ending up anywhere... After doing just this, after asking all of these questions, I found myself still asking more questions; "Still how will I know if and when I have made it to success?" I arrived at a significant breakthrough; albeit a plateau. Can one know if they have made it to success out here in LA if they are unable to think successfully? Noodling through this schema, brought me to another question: How do you think successfully? Each day, many types of individuals live and make it out here in LA - They exist. I classified these individuals by the way that they answer my questions. Three Types of View Points on: Making it to Success The first type of individual sees this question: How do you make it - or How do you think successfully, has NO issues. This individual already has the answers ingrained and/or mentally hardwired. People like this exist, we know them, some of them are our friends- we look up to them. They may just be so lucky; as in place they have systematic maps, highly detailed plans, alternatives, resources, and the icing on top? In addition to tools, some of these individuals also have generations of other successful family members guiding them. I find that at the point where they have "made it," they already know it, there are no questions about it. This knowledge already written, perhaps with date and time stamp attached, 10, 15, or even 20 years ago. Remember, their systematic maps and generational family ties certifies this. The second type of individual, may not be this fortunate or may be even more so fortunate (depending on how you look at it) . Being one of these types of individuals is a success in itself, themselves innately successful. These people are able to read maps written in foreign languages, they assimilate well, they also have an internal unwavering drive pushing them to success. These individuals are most often the hardest workers, they are consistently exceptional, they naturally make it to success. Naturally, they know of the point when they have made it to success because...well because they know how hard they have worked to make it there - they were born successful, this is not a question of discussion, and no one shall tell them differently. The third type of individual- doesn't understand the concept of thinking successfully and so therfore also cannot understand the concept of "making it to success". Now, it must be understood that these types of individuals are often the most successful of the three. Despite this, we find that thoughts of this individual may be disorganized, obsessive, anxious, delusional, depressive, waxing/waning and/or impoverished. This type of individual may once have had the best plan, the best family connections, may start out as the hardest worker, and/or may believe they will and are entitled to making it to success. This individual may have magical or skewed ideas; therefore for this person, what it means to think successfully individually varies. Just as thinking successfully varies, so does the patterns of success in this group. Often times- regardless of making it to success, this person is unsuccessful and cannot make it. This is not so due to their actions, but because of the way that they think. After 33 years of living and being myself, I am most certain, that I am this third type of individual. I feel that I have finally been given a clearer understanding of what it means to "make it to success." I also realized that I could not really answer the play by play of how to do so for myself let alone another....worse doing so in this post.... An abridged version? To make it to success out here in LA, you just have to think successfully! Thinking successfully may not be the easiest thing to do if you are like me or this 3rd type of individual; however hear (read) me and know this- it can surely be done! Learning, practicing, living your best life, believing this starting today - We can MAKE IT out here in LA! We can master THINKING SUCCESSFULLY!
